According to the actress, she had also worked in such ads that promoted these false beauty standards. However, she now believes that it is essential to openly discuss these fabricated beauty standards.
During a podcast call with Har Daddi, she shared that in the film and fashion industry, people were always obsessed with changing one's skin color and size. They would dictate what body weight is appropriate and suggest the ideal dress size. All of this is still happening today.
Priyanka sarcastically remarked, "You always have to look perfect, or else you are not beautiful." People associated with the fashion and film industry start telling you what body weight is right for you and which dress size will suit you better.
This is still happening. She further added, "I cannot even imagine the impact these things have on children's minds at this stage of life." Hence, she believes it is necessary to have an open conversation about how dangerous these beauty standards are.
Who gets to decide what is beautiful? We need to openly discuss this among people, so we can break free from these shackles that have bound us for years. We need to openly talk about women and men's bodies, aging, and every real aspect of life.
