Cremation of our former Prime Minister had been done on Saturday at Nigambodh Ghat. All funeral rites were completed with all national respect. All three armies saluted him. His wife and all three daughters were present there. His family met with Narendra Modi too. All the big political leaders paid tribute to him on the Nigambodh Ghat.
Everyone was shocked by the government's decision. Everyone was thinking that his cremation would be on a designated memorial site. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called this action a disrespect to our former prime minister.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said that "The present government has completely insulted Dr. Manmohan Singh, the great son of Mother India and the first Prime Minister of the Sikh community, by performing his last rites at Nigambodh Ghat today.
He was the Prime Minister of India for a decade. During his tenure the country became an economic superpower, and his policies are still supporting the poor and backward classes of the country.
Till date, respecting the dignity of all former prime ministers, their last rites were performed in authorized mausoleums so that every person could pay homage without any inconvenience.
Dr. Manmohan Singh deserves our highest respect and gravesite. The government should have shown respect towards this great son of the country and his glorious community."

Former Punjab deputy chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal also expressed shock at the Centre’s decision to do the cremation of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi, saying it was “condemnable.”
